When one thinks of an area featuring some of the most beautiful scenery in the country, evidenced as such by a year round robust tourist market, invariably it is the Lake District which first comes to mind and, of the Lakes, the 12 mile long Lake Windermere is the most famous and indeed the most popular.

Situated half way along the shores of Lake Windermere is the constantly bustling Bowness-on-Windermere, a small town where, in its quaint streets and shops, the tourist can secure quality mementos of their visit. It is here in this area too that you will find both Lonsdale Galleries and The Corner Shop.

Geographically, the village of Windermere is an extension of Bowness-on-Windermere.  Both are extremely busy with year round visitors who come to the area for fishing, water sports or just to admire the scenery.  Another major bonus for the area is undoubtedly the link with Beatrix Potter and The World of Beatrix Potter in Bowness-on-Windermere is a focal point for children, and adults eager to see their favourite characters and to meet Peter Rabbit, Jemima Puddle-duck etc.

When visiting The World of Beatrix Potter, you cannot fail to notice the Lonsdale Galleries, the first of our two shops in the area, the second being The Corner Shop in Windermere itself.  The region generally oozes quality and charm and our joint established role is to provide the visitor with a gift or memento of the Lake District from one of our attractive shops both of which have a 'tardis' like quality.

We are not just tourist shops though and the baskets full of childrens toys outside can give a deceiving impression. Look inside and you will see a shop full of original and quality items ranging from beautiful home furnishings to trendy kitchenware and even ladies handbags. we also have, in our opinion, the best selection of lighting products in the Lake District.
